What Is Super Visa?

Parents and grandparents of permanent residents and Canadian citizens can apply for a SuperVisa to visit their family in Canada. The Parent and Grandparent Super Visa can stay in Canada for a duration of up to 2 years. Your parents or grandparents must meet specific requirements to qualify for a SuperVisa, relating to their home situation, finances, the purpose of their visit, and intention to return to their country of origin once the stay is finished.

As their grandchild or child, you will be requested to provide a written consent that you are liable to provide them with the financial backing and that you meet the Canadian immigration minimum income qualification. All candidates will also have to complete a medical exam requested by Canadian immigration.

Super Visa Insurance Is Mandatory

One of the essential requirements to get a Parent or Grandparent Super Visa for Canada is to purchase emergency medical insurance from a good Canadian insurance company valid for no less than one year. The insurance has to provide minimum coverage of $100,000 to cover healthcare, repatriation costs and hospitalization. Supervisa holders will be required to show proof of coverage every time they enter the country.

Specific plans may cover pre-existing conditions provided these are stable for a mentioned period in the policy wording. You may be needed to fill a medical questionnaire related to Pre-existing conditions. The insurance will cover the rental or purchase costs of medical appliances, emergency medical care received from nurses and doctors. The cost of Hospital rooms, prescription drugs and diagnostic tests, Ambulance Bill, repatriation and transportation are also covered.

Coverage Options

Many Canadian companies offer an allowance for treatment received from licensed acupuncturists, chiropractors, osteopaths and more. Some insurance providers offer to pay for emergency dental treatment, childcare expenses and additional living expenses resulting from the medical condition. Finally, most policies provide coverage for funeral/cremation and accidental death and dismemberment benefits.
